The aim of Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts is to be one of the most preferred departments by students who want to be involved in food and beverage services in tourism sector, to have graduates who are employed in both national and international catering firms, and to contribute to train qualified academic staff our country needs. Our principles are to have student-based perspective in education, produce academic knowledge, have academic staff who constantly improve themselves, transfer our nation’s value to next generations and give them a universal perspective to make them citizens of the world at the same time, create a team work based atmosphere, and find solutions to the problems of the sector.
As a department that understands the needs of the sector, we plan our curriculum accordingly. We educate our students as successful managers and chefs in the sector. We educate students not only in gastronomy but also in management, business, finance, accountancy. We train creative chefs who master in international cuisine in our laboratory and in the best kitchen in Turkey. We offer our students elective courses such as Spanish, Japanese, French, German, and Russian so that they can be manager chefs who have strong communication skills. We support our students to gain experience to study and intern abroad by the help our strategic cooperation with the other education institutions. After completing seven semesters, our students have the chance to gain work experience in the sector.
After completing their education successfully, our graduates can work in catering firms and kitchens of the hotels, and they will have enough knowledge and qualifications to open their own business. And also after completing their master degree and PhD, they can work in the academy.
