Mechanical Engineering department provides education of designing, producing and conducting R&D services of all kinds of mechanical systems and energy transformation systems. Mechanical Engineering is mainly based on a strong content knowledge in mathematics and physics. This engineering discipline offers courses such as materials science, solid mechanics, fluid science, thermodynamics, and mechanical design. The undergraduate curriculum emphasizes the basic principles of the discipline and educates students in the use of these principles to solve complex engineering problems.
Core courses such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, geometry, technical drawing are offered in the first year of the department. Courses about thermodynamics, thermal transmission, fluid mechanics, and mechanics, and mechanical design, components of the machine, nuclear power and energy transformation systems are offered both theoretically and practically.
Mechanical engineers are sought by employers in almost all kinds of sectors. Designing and producing machines, robot technology, automation, generation, distribution, transmission of the energy, transportation vehicles (land, sea, air) industry, iron- steel industry, textile industry, food industry, petrochemical industry, ceramic and glass industry, design and contracting services, education services are the main employment areas of mechanical engineers. Improvements in the fields of computer technologies, micro-electromechanical systems, micro-manufacturing, medical technologies and nanotechnology bring about new branches under the discipline of mechanical engineering.
