Economic decision unit’s desire to meet transportation needs at the shortest time between two points increases the need for providing valuable assets’ transportation in a secure way and some critical factors increase the demand for airline transport of persons and goods. Companies which want to meet increasing demand at the civil aviation sector experience an intense competition period in this sense. Increase in competition initiates attempts of using sources more efficiently and then this revives the need for qualified personnel. In consideration of this data, aim of the department is to educate personnel who are needed by business, private and public institutions operating in aviation sector in terms of air transport management issues.
Syllabus of the Civil Aviation Transportation Management Department consists of courses where information is available that can be used every stage of professional life. Core courses of the department are introduction to the civil aviation, air transport, airport services, ground services, passenger services, ramp services, aviation safety, flight planning, airport management, aviation English and implementations for civil aviation transportation management. In addition a great number of elective courses covering specific issues are also available for the students.
Differentiations occur in terms of types of services and services provided as depending on the change of the economic decision units’ needs. Close monitoring and including these changes into the production process in a short time become a current issue as an important matter of the competitiveness. Civil aviation sector takes place within the sectors which demonstrate an increase in the competition pressure and a continuous change in demand. Keeping service quality high within the relevant sector implies providing customer satisfaction in a sustainable manner. Realization of these depends on employment of the personnel who are specialist in their fields and open for improvement. Employment of qualified personnel in this sense within the civil aviation sector in which potential for development is high is an important issue to put emphasis on. Graduates of this department are employed mainly in Turkish Airlines and other private airlines companies, airports, airport ground services, catering and cargo companies and other aviation institutions.
