ALES (The Entrance Examination for Graduate Studies) is a general competency test conducted by the Turkish Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The test language is Turkish.
The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Turkish.
Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.
Equivalency document for the foreign undergraduate Diploma (proof of equivalency can be provided from Turkish Embassies in the home country or at the Provincial Department of Education Istanbul.
You must take verified copies of the entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.

Applicants are expected to submit an application dossier consisting of a short resumé and letter of intent; describing the reasons why they want to undertake a graduate level film study and a detailed project/thesis proposal, which they wish to develop and carry out as a part of the program. Proposal should contain the main framework of the project/thesis, theoretical or artistic departure points and the applicant’s motivation to pursue this project.
Applications with project proposals can support their text with visual materials, such as inspirational works or their own practice.
Applications with thesis proposals can discuss the relevance of their thesis regarding the current discourse on their field of study with references or literature survey.
All documentation for application dossier must be maximum 5 pages.
Portfolio: In addition to the application dossier, submission of a portfolio or link to website is recommended for candidates applying with project proposals.
The MA program in Film and Television provides an advanced course of study in theory and criticism of cinema and an in-depth exploration into its practice. The MA program is an environment that enables students, to further their theoretical and practical studies and to continue either, with an academic career or with a professional practice in this field.
Candidates are required to apply to the Program with a thesis proposal or a project proposal for a film or a screenplay. Students who are accepted will choose the relevant courses and closely work with academicians and professionals while developing their work. They may enroll in courses from other graduate programs or in undergraduate courses for relevant subjects or for technical proficiency.
International options include exchange programs such as Erasmus and Laureate. MA students may spend a semester in European universities such as FAMU (Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) or in American Universities such as Santa Fe University of Art and Design, affiliated with Garson Studios serving Hollywood productions.
MA in Film and Television is part of “4+1 BİLGİ” and is accepting students from all 4th year students of BİLGİ.
