All parts of fashion sector take an important place in international field. It is one of the most important sectors of Turkey in manufacture, export and employment and today, it is specifically needed for conscious and skillful fashion designers who have modern technical knowledge in textile area, are equipped with identity and cultural background of creative artist. Design is thought with esthetical and functional values on modern works which are supported by technology and science. Manufacturers are making an effort on having a say in international platform and increasing the visibility of brand on their collection that produced by their designers. Therefore, artisan designers are the ones who are preferred by manufacturers. In the light of this information, purpose of fashion design program is to have the students with cultural, modern, social, dynamic and traditional art knowledge and have technical skills and knowledge, be able to work out on today’s exact design concept; artist/designer and pragmatist persons.
Courses that taken by the students of fashion design program are pattern preparing, clothing design, clothing production, fashion photographing, fashion design supported by computer, pattern organizing supported by computer, textile technology, fabric structure knowledge, presenting techniques and private clothing design which are directly related to the sector.
Fashion design program graduates can work as a stylist, modelist or a designer in public institutions, textile factories and atelier, knitting-weaving-press industry, ready-made clothing sector, textile export firms, private corporations and fashion houses. In addition, they can also create job opportunities by opening their own fashion houses or work places in this sector.
