Main objects of the program are giving students comprehensive education about local governments, developing students’ expertise about the scientific field and helping to students for acquiring information to evaluate, interpret and attain with researching academic subjects.
Master’s Degree Program with thesis in Local Governments and Decentralization is a 120 ECTS credit program with a duration of 2 academic years, each with 2 semesters. The regular program consists of 7 courses of 21 local credits, a seminar and a thesis work of 60 ECTS credits with a normal duration of 2 semesters. The institute, upon the request of the program director, may require the prospective student to take additional courses if his/her background is not seen fit to follow the program.
The Local Governments and Decentralization programme offers a wide range of career opportunities. For instance graduates could work in economic development departments or corporations, pursue careers in the District Assemblies. Others would also want to work to establish new Economic Development operations or to bring new skills to existing operations or community development organizations and private firms.
