Overview

The MA International Relations is a collaboration between Coventry University’s Department of International Studies and Social Science and Centre for Peace and Reconciliation Studies and Kadir Has University’s Department of International Relations. The Program combines and builds on the expertise and specialisms of both Faculties.

The Program investigates themes as varied as the evolution of the discipline, globalisation, international law, diplomacy, war and peace. Students of international relations have an interest in the nature of the world in which we live, the problems it confronts and finding solutions to those problems without resorting to force. World politics is experiencing rapid and far reaching changes and transnational challenges, such as those presented by climate change for example, demand innovative diplomatic solutions.

The Program has been designed to enable newcomers to engage readily with the subject, whilst offering those who already have a background in international relations an opportunity to deepen their exploration of its scope and complexities.

Programme structure

You will work with world-class researchers in Coventry University’s Department of International Studies and Social Science (ISSS) and Centre for Peace and Reconciliation Studies and Kadır Has University’s Department of International Relations, as well as the Department of International Relations at Kadir Has University, taking advantage of their experience, knowledge and connections.
Studying in Istanbul will afford a number of advantages to students on international relations. Turkey is recognised as an emerging economic and political power, pursuing an increasingly assertive and ambitious foreign policy that seeks to consolidate its political, diplomatic and commercial interests in the region and, more widely, in the developing world, notably in Islamic countries.
This program is taught in a variety of ways to offer a rounded educational experience. You will be taught through extended workshops and methods of investigation such as breakout groups, presentations, debates and simulations.
Kadir Has University and Coventry University each have strong links with other universities around the world, as well as international relations practitioners in government, non-governmental organisations, and international organisations as well as prominent think tanks, ensuring you get a truly global understanding of the area.
