The Bachelor’s Degree Program of the Department of English Language and Literature is a 240 ECTS credits program of 4 years composed of eight semesters, each with a 30 ECTS workload. One ECTS is equal to 25.5 hours of student workload per semester.
The Department of English Language and Literature is one of the first programs founded in year 2007. The program is aimed at responding to Turkey’s growing needs for proficient English speakers who also appreciate the literary richness of the English language.
The department strives to enable its students to fully use their intellectual potentials in comprehending the ideas, attitudes and movements in English Literature. To this end, a wide range of elective courses in undergraduate training leading to the degree of B.A. in English Language and Literature are offered. To facilitate the acquisition of life-long learning skills, the department accomodates students with comparative studies and present them with approaches that broaden their curiousity. On successful completion of the program, students will be able to demonstrate skills in the critical evaluation of literary texts, in writing persuasively in English language and in communicating their ideas in English confidently.
The Department of English Language and Literature expects to meet the highest standards in undergraduate teaching, and in job placement in both our own country and abroad.
We are confident that the graduates of the Department of English Language and Literature will have an exceptionally good record in job placement as scholars at colleges or other schools, as employees in international business and international relations, etc..
