Tuition fee $11,000.00 per programme

a) Academic excellence scholarship with full tuition waiver. Some students may also receive stipends. Students on this scholarship must work at their department for 10-20 hrs/week. Students must meet all of the following requirements for this scholarship opportunity: Minimum 3.00/4.00 GPA. GRE quantitative 685 or ALES 70. TOEFL 90 or IELTS 6 or ÜDS 75.

Overview

The objective of Design master’s programme is to facilitate creative and critical studies based on the interaction between the fields of art and design. The areas of study include but are not limited to ‘Contemporary Art’, ‘Design Studies (history, theory and criticism)’, ‘Visual Culture’, ‘Theories of the Image’, ‘Art History and Criticism’, ‘Material Culture Studies’, ‘Consumption and Gender’, ‘Human-Centered Design’, ‘Participatory Design’, ‘Strategic Design’, ‘Design Methods’, ‘Design Management’, ‘Urban Studies’, ‘Space and Society’. Studies in these areas are supervised by the programme staff, who are accomplished academics in their areas of study.

The language of instruction is English.

Thesis and non-thesis options are available.

Programme structure

The programme offers students the opportunity to develop their academic skills and knowledge with a rigorous experience of research and an instruction in theoretical foundations of art and design.

Students from diverse backgrounds can re–examine and improve the skills and knowledge they had formerly acquired from a broader perspective of art and design. The programme provides students with essential skills and knowledge needed for theoretical as well as practical grasp of their potential questions of research. Graduates can undertake advanced studies in subjects emerging at the intersection of design and other fields and generate new insights.
