Information, which became easily obtainable after the advances in communication technologies and systems, can be accessed anytime from anywhere in today’s world. This creates new communication platforms which enable change in political, social and cultural grounds. In order to be involved in these newly transformed grounds as active individuals, and at the same time to analyze the possible outcomes, a need for new fields of expertise emerged. Beykent University Faculty of Communication has opened up a new graduate program called “New Media” in order to meet this emerging need.
New Media Graduate Program, aims to train students as technology friendly, creative individuals who can dominate the technical and aesthetic language of new media, and who can use the audio-visual and interactive media space wisely, with an awareness of ethical responsibility.
Students, who will be taking theoretical and practical courses in a multi-diciplinary fashion, including classes on online journalism, digital publishing, e-government applications and social networking sites, are aimed to be raised as aware individuals who have the necessary knowledge for critical thinking and evaluation.
After gaining such knowledge and skills, the graduates of the ‘New Media Program’ will be strong candidates for high positions in the professional realm of today’s technology driven world.
