The Graduate Programs in Economics at İstanbul Bilgi University is a part of this tradition of mathematical social sciences. They aim to offer students a rigorous training and a lively research environment.
We welcome any student with strong analytical skills and a dedciation to economic research, independent of his/her previous fi eld of study.
Students are expected to complete all their courses within the first year. The course work consists of 6 core and 2 elective courses. The two elective courses can be chosen either from the course list of the PhD in Economics Electives, MSc in Financial Economics, or MA in International Political Economy. The courses are 3-hour long.
In their second year, the students are required to write their master’s thesis. A student is eligible to write a master’s thesis only if the course work is successfully completed. A master’s thesis means a (possibly modest) contribution to the body of scientifi c knowledge.
The quality of the master’s thesis will be evaluated according to international research standards.
The MSc program is a two-year full-time program
designed to equip students with necessary background to pursue a PhD degree in economics , finance, or political economy. The program requires the students to successfully complete 8 courses (for a total of 60 ECTS), take a non-credit seminar course, and defend their MSc thesis.
The graduates of the program pursue careers in the private
sector, the academia, the civil service, the media and civil society institutions.
