Undergraduate diploma (or higher)
Students need the original of the Postgraduate Diploma. The institution which has issued the diploma must be recognised by the Council of Higher Education in Turkey. The student is responsible for making sure that the institution is recognised in Turkey. For that the student can apply for the recognition in the Ministry of Education of the Turkish Republic and attach the proof of recognision to the application. If the student does no apply for the recognition then Dogus University will send the institution information to the Ministry of Education of the Turkish Republic for the recognition. In case the institution will not pass the recognition the student’s registration will be cancelled.
The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Turkish.
Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.
You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.
Graduate students accepted to a program taught in Turkish have to prove their proficiency in Turkish before they can start their academic studies.
Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) which encompasses many disciplines such as computers, information technologies, communications, sensing etc. has been declared as the profession of the 21st century (see Hurriyet daily, October 7, 2001). In concurrence with this declaration, 58 of the top 100 students, in the 2005 central examination for admission to Turkish universities, have chosen ECE Departments. Nevertheless, there is still a large demand in Turkey as well as in the world for ECE experts.
When studying B. SC. and M. Sc. ECE programs one is faced with major problems: i) the difficulty in preparing a consistent and comprehensive program because of the wide spectrum of the scientific subject area, ii) the necessity of almost completely renewing the program every 8-10 years because of the rapid technological changes in the field. An equally essential issue is the quality of faculty who will implement the program; please visit the web-pages of the department at www3.dogus.edu.tr/ehmb/en/index2.html to judge the quality of the faculty and of the program by comparing with others.
Doğuş University offers two M. Sc. programs in ECE: one with thesis, the other without thesis. The aim of these programs is to graduate engineers who: i) possess the necessary fundamental knowledge in such a complex and wide subject area, ii) are efficient and able to follow the innovations, iii) can apply these innovations.
M. Sc. Program with Thesis
Students who are to graduate from the program with thesis must choose 3 of the compulsory and a minimum of 4 of the elective courses for a minimum total of 21 credits; a M. Sc. thesis and a seminar, both non-credit, must also be completed under the supervision of an adviser. A compulsory course may also be chosen to substitute for an elective course; a 400 level B. Sc. ECE course or Computer Engineering M. Sc. course, in total not exceeding 2 courses, may also be chosen with the consent of the adviser.
M. Sc. Program without Thesis
In addition to the course requirement of the M. Sc. degree with thesis, at least 3 additional courses must be taken in order to bring the total to 30 credits; the rules for selecting the courses are the same as those in the program without thesis. Upon the consent of the adviser, a course offered by the Institute may also be chosen as an elective. In addition, the student must prepare a non-credit project under the supervision of an adviser. After the completion of the courses, a student has to take an oral proficiency examination covering the courses and has to pass it successfully.
