Overview
Audiology is interested in normal hearing and balance functions as well as the prevention of hearing and balance disorders. The field of Audiology involves in the evaluation and specification of hearing and balance disorders by the specific diagnostic test methods and it provides the necessary support for selection and application of appropriate device depending on the disorder. This support must be met by a very well-trained allied health personnel. In our country, in the field of audiology and “Bachelor” and “Graduate” program deficit of qualified personnel is very high.
Programme structure
Audiology focuces on training individuals to become expert who has an adequate theoretical knowledge and skills in the field in order to make the most of all the diagnostic tests and applications, communicate with hearing disabilities and actively participate in their education, respect for human rights and feel social responsibility.
Career opportunities
Hearing and speech disorders experts can work in special education centers, private clinics, universities as speech therapists. Audiologist’s signature is required for cochlear implant applications. Audiologists, besides state and university hospitals can also work in private and military hospitals, centers of cochlear implants, hearing aids centers, industrial companies, private training centers and schools, and hospices. In addition to this, audiologists take master and doctorate programs in order to pursue acedemic careers. Audiologists may exercise their profession in opening their own businesses.
