Overview

Through the program of First and Emergency Aid, it is aimed to educate assistant health personnel to render emergency action services professionally prior to getting the hospital, then to ensure sick and wounded to be transferred to relevant care centers under appropriate conditions and to apply lifesaving medical actions protecting from becoming disabled till base treatment of the sick and wounded people. The purpose of this program is to educate qualified technicians who are careful, calm and strong sense of responsibility, able to communicate well with others, determine the problem by examining the patient’s condition and the environment and taking information from his/her relatives, perform the first aid mission at emergency department of hospitals and also ambulance driving when required.

Programme structure

During education term, in the program of First and Emergency aids, the students are educated in the subjects such as emergency aid and rescue operations, ambulance trainings, emergency medical services, emergency care, ECG reading, control of bleeding, vascular open and some basic pharmaceutical applications, etc. Also, within the scope of fundamental courses, they are educated in the fields of rescue, use of equipment and behavioral science besides the courses like anatomy, and pharmacology. They perform their internships within the year at emergency services and 112 ambulance station. Students are trained as people who are closely linked to medical ethics and deontological rules, respectful toward the rights of patients and have mental and physical structure through which they can fulfill the tasks assigned under all conditions and every time. At the end of the first year, students perform their summer internship which lasts 30 business days; in the second year, they practice their internship at emergency services of hospitals and 112 ambulance stations within both semesters within the scope of the course of professional practice.

Career opportunities

Graduate students with the title of health technician, by completing all of the professional practices and internships in the program, can work at pre-hospital emergency care and all emergency services.
