Overview

With the increase in globalization, an important process of interaction in business sector has begun and acquisitions and mergers of international business have increased. This increase in international markets has created the need to standardize the international statements and to analyze financial statements using a common language. Therefore International Financial Reporting Standards have been established. Our country has completely adapted in this standardization process with the new Turkish Commercial Code. The main purpose of the Accounting and Financial Management is to educate financial experts who can evaluate, read and prepare the financial statements according to the standards.

Career opportunities

Graduates of this department, in the institutions they work, are active in executing account works, analyzing, recording, controlling and using the financial resources efficiently. Graduates can work in public and commercial organizations belonging to the private sector, accounting office, business accounting and finance departments, finance and tax offices, financial organizations (banks, factoring companies) and can work as a customs consultant, take part in activities of recognition and coordination of the financial transactions in foreign trade companies. They are responsible for keeping records of income and expenses, taxes and other payments related to the transaction in accordance with laws in an appropriate format. If they pass TURMOB student internship exam and do a three year internship, they can open their own accounting or financial advisor office. Good knowledge of accounting regulations and the usage of the computer increases the possibility of finding a job and success. One of the most promising professional groups of this department is auditorship. With the new Turkish Commercial Law, independent audit has become mandatory in many businesses. Regulation is expected to have an impact on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. Therefore auditorship will be the most important branch of accounting and finance in the near future. Graduates can both find employment in the private sector and take the KPSS exam and work as auditors and experts or assistant specialist in public institutions.
