The profession of interior design is dedicated to the evaluation of the spatial potential of already existent contexts. Present-day urban renewal projects and the problematic of the conversion of the existing stock of buildings have increased the allure of this profession. As a consequence, a rational evaluation of the existing stock and the revelation of their hidden potentials has become the primary endeavor of the profession of interior design. Department of Interior Design at BİLGİ emphasizes the importance of the basic elements of the quality of life such as the economies and richnesses of space, as opposed to a purely cosmetic intervention, aesthetic camouflage or ‘decoration’ as yet another component of the fashion industry.
