For study programmes at the bachelor’s level, Proof of English Language Proficiency is not required for the application. However if you would like to apply for below scholarships, you need to submit the following English Test scores:
For 100% scholarship: Minimum TOEFL – iBT 90,
For 75% scholarship: Minimum TOEFL – iBT 79

The Department of Philosophy at İstanbul Şehir University is a young, ambitious, and growing Department committed to a pluralist approach to philosophy. The expertise of its multinational faculty members comprises both the analytic tradition focusing on philosophical problems and the European and Islamic tradition focusing on the same problems from a historical perspective. The Department respects both universal and regional traditions of thought. It is in particular dedicated to an interdisciplinary perspective through offering double major and minor programs.
İstanbul Şehir University Philosophy Department has the mission of enabling the evaluation of philosophy in Turkey as a whole either with its history or with its disciplines and in this vein; it aims to become the address for a qualified education and international standards.
İstanbul Şehir University Department of Philosophy which adopts the interdisciplinary perspective aims to give its students a qualified education which helps them gain a philosophical mode of thinking by giving them an integrated and in-dept formation of history and disciplines of philosophy.
You will gain a profound insight which enables you to understand and compare the philosophical accumulations of different civilization basins in İstanbul Şehir University Philosophy Department. You will be aware of the agenda in modern philosophy and gain the ability to benefit from the works of the philosophers.
You will graduate from the university as a philosophy student who has learnt Ottoman Turkish, Arabic, Ancient Greek, Latin and English along with a western language. When you graduate from the Philosophy department, you can become a philosophy teacher, and also all doors will be open for you if you have a good formation in philosophy and combine this formation with either social sciences or natural sciences: Academician, publishing, journalism, editorship, administration…are only some of them.
