Every new development is bound to affect business enterprises. At our times the source of change is globalization. Globalization has a very serious impact on the management of business enterprises. As the process of globalization advances and deepens its hold on the world economy, business enterprises have to make strategic decisions in the light of internal and external factors in order to achieve their goals and reach their targets, while at the same time they have to maintain international competitiveness and sustainability. This can only be achieved with a well educated professional team of managers. A prominent goal of our department is to educate and prepare young professionals capable of meeting the challenges of globalization at the level of the business enterprise. To educate such young professionals we put particular emphasis on an academic staff who are truly specialized in their fields and an academic program which is continuously updated.
The first year courses of our department are aimed to give the student an insight to the economic, social and legal aspects of the business enterprise. In the following years, the students will be taught courses on the basic functions of business enterprises such as accounting, finance, production, marketing and human resource management. Beside the theoretical knowledge given to the students during lectures, prominent businessmen who have been successful in their careers will be invited to describe their experiences to the students and answer questions from the new class of managers. The students have the option to take up a very large number of elective courses both within as well as outside the department in order to enrich themselves both academically and practically. The main aim is to prepare students capable of decision making in enterprises and to empower them the ability to think in a multidimensional and intellectual manner. Academically successful students have the possibility to graduate with double majors by taking the required courses, thus having a double major degree both from our department and also another department. Furthermore, successful students in major program can also take minor program courses in order to become knowledgeable in different subjects that they are interested in.
In addition to this, exchange programs within the framework of Erasmus with universities of other countries will allow the students of our department to gain experiences abroad, meet new cultures and establish social ties that will help them to follow their education abroad or seek employment abroad.
